mini 1password it is not working

I just bought a new MacBook and am trying to get things wet-up. I had trouble with my old 1password and i think I now have 1password 7 for mac?? I am confused...sorry! I have the mini icon on my safari but when I press it my 1password app list flashes up and disappears. In the old 1password I had I could click on that and put in my master password and then click on a login and the page would open and fill in to log me in. I cannot seem to get that now. Help!!
