Login with next button between username and password

Options

Hi there,

When logging into either Atlassian Jira, or a Google account, the login values username and password are not shown on a single page, but are separated into two distinct 'pages'; you have to click Continue after entering your username before you get to the field with the password.

Is it possible to make the browser plugin:

  • fill in the username,
  • click on the Continue button
  • fill in the password
  • click on the Log in button?

See these urls:

https://accounts.google.com/signin/v2/identifier?continue=https://mail.google.com/mail/&service=mail&sacu=1&rip=1&flowName=GlifWebSignIn&flowEntry=ServiceLogin

Kind regards,
W

    Hi @wimvmourik,

It isn't possible. Starting in macOS Mojave Apple have removed the function our previous submit after filing feature used. Even back then though, we didn't submit a page if we didn't fill a password field. If 1Password is only filling a text field there's always going to be potential for a mistake and by not submitting we ensure the user can control what happens next.

Based on your current setup it will be two fill commands to 1Password and depending on whether you're more a mouse or keyboard person to clicks or two taps of the enter key. If you're a keyboard person the keyboard shortcut ⌘\ will fill the current page and 1Password does attempt to leave focus on a field it has filled. It will prefer a password field where possible but in the cases of your examples it should be leaving focus on the username field it filled.

We do have another extension at the moment, titled 1Password X. It only works with 1Password accounts so if you have standalone vaults not part of a 1Password account it won't be an option. It also doesn't integrate with the 1Password for Mac client so it will mean both the application and the extension will need to be unlocked separately, at least for now. The reason I mention 1Password X is it does do one thing that 1Password for Mac doesn't. If you fill a page and 1Password X only fills the username and after a submit it find a password field it will fill it, viewing it as continuation of the original fill command. If you're curious you can learn more about it on our support page Get to know 1Password X.

If you have any questions about either 1Password X or 1Password for Mac with the companion extension please let us know.
