1Password 4 doesn't support Chrome 72 or later (but 1Password 7 does!)

Hey, y'all! As you may be aware, Google changed the signing certificate for Chrome with the release of Chrome 72. Your license for 1Password 4 hasn't expired (and never will), but 1Password 4 will not recognize Chrome moving forward. We will not be updating 1Password 4 to address this. While we're happy to continue helping out with 1Password 4, we need to keep looking forward from a development perspective. We stopped selling new licenses for 1Password 4 a few years ago and it is now in the legacy stage of support. This means it will only receive critical security updates moving forward and development will continue to focus on the new 1Password 7.

What you can do

We recommend upgrading to 1Password 7 if you'd like to continue using 1Password in Chrome. 1Password 7 for Windows is a brand new desktop app designed from the ground up to be fast, beautiful, and the best 1Password experience on Windows yet. It includes support for Chrome 72+ as well as a ton of new features like our updated Watchtower 2.0, All Vaults, support for Windows Hello, and much more. You can learn all about it here:

What's next?

There will come various points as 1Password 4 ages where certain things will just stop working as the world changes around it. For now, Firefox will still work fine, as will Brave, Vivaldi and Opera. If you'd like to stick with 1Password 4, you still have options for saving and filling in your web browser. With this in mind, you're welcome to use 1Password 4, but I would encourage you to give strong consideration to upgrading. The most important security update is always to keep your operating system, browsers, and apps (including 1Password) updated to the latest available version. :+1:

Most importantly, all of us at 1Password appreciate your support over the years. 1Password 7 wouldn't be possible if folks hadn't purchased 1Password 4 years ago and we're eternally grateful for your help getting where we are today. I hope you decide to try 1Password 7 and love it, but if you have any questions at all, the whole 1Password for Windows team is always here to help. :chuffed:
