@smbunn: Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry for the confusion! The "catch 22" is that you don't have account credentials if you don't have an account, but that's easily remedied.
It sounds like you may be trying to login with a 1Password Account, but you will only have one if you've signed up for a 1Password.com membership. That’s the only way you’ll have a Secret Key or Sign In URL, or be able to access your data through 1Password.com. When you sign up, you'll get those things:

Like Brenty just said, you will only have Secret Key if you've signed up for a 1Password.com membership. In this case we have an article on how to find your Secret Key.
If you are using 1Password stand alone license, you do not have any Secret Key and therefore you can not get it, until you might decide to switch to 1Password Membership (subscription).

I have a 1Password.com membership and find myself in exactly the same position. I have a login email address, a master password but no secret key. Every article Ive read on finding my secret key takes me back to the login prompt and there I go again, no secret key. Catch 22!!!
@Edward123: If you have a 1Password membership account, you'll have a Secret Key, and it can be found in the app on any device where you're signed in:
For example, if you're using your 1Passsword account on iOS, you can find your account details in 1Password Settings > Accounts. If you are not using the account on any devices (you would need to have used the Secret Key you generated during sign up in the first place to do so), then you're not even using the account and can start over with a new one.
