1password does not ask to save in browser

Options

Using latest version of FF on new W10 laptop. I ran the setup .exe file for 1password 7.3.367 but it seems not to make 1password ask to safe a login anywhere. So is there another application that is required? Lars says to 7.2.617 for windows from the downloads page.

  • Hello, @drako, and welcome to the forum! In order to save and fill in your browser, you need the 1Password extension as well:

    https://support.1password.com/1password-extension/

1Password can't see what you're doing in your browser on its own, so it needs a bit of a hand. You can also use 1Password X, which doesn't require the desktop app at all:

    https://support.1password.com/getting-started-1password-x/

They're both a bit of a different experience, so it's really up to you what works best for you. If you're not sure which you'd prefer, I'd give each a try and see which you like best. And, of course, if you have questions about either option just let me know. :chuffed:

The problem that I kept having was when trying to get the extension for FF, there was some sort of error message. See image. https://i.imgur.com/OXEFY8b.jpg ![](https://i.imgur.com/OXEFY8b.jpg
I finally managed to use IE11 on another machine to download the file but since the extension in the file name was not familiar to me, not sure. Is this the right file name? 1Password-4.7.3.90.xpi

Yes that's correct. You've either got a network problem there, or, more likely, some "security" software that has compromised your ability to connect securely in Firefox to download the extension. I'm glad you were able to work around that by downloading the XPI using another browser, but it's something you should look into -- whatever is interfering with your ability to securely connect and download 1Password.
