I have a similar but hypothetical question. If I am travelling with my iPhone, and it is lost/stolen but secure, can I log into 1Password on a hotel internet computer and access my passwords? I have tested this by logging into my computer in incognito to 1Password.com and it also asks for the Secret Key.

  • Hi @matrixonboard

We strongly recommend against using any public computers / untrusted devices. There is no way of knowing what malware may be on them. Logging into any of your accounts from such a device is inadvisable but this is especially true of your 1Password account. Instead I'd recommend traveling with a copy of your Emergency Kit that does not have your Master Password filled in. For an even stealthier option you might consider a paper copy of just your Secret Key. That way when you've purchased a new device you can log in to your 1Password account.

Get to know your Emergency Kit
