Different Versions - How to get 1Password 7 on both?

I think we have a family account. On my Mac I have 1Password Version 6.8.8 (688001) Mac App Store. My wife has 1Password 7, which seems to be able to do more. Is there an easy way for me to upgrade to 1Password 7?

1Password Version: 6.8.8
Extension Version: 4.74
OS Version: OS X 10.14.8
Sync Type: iCloud

@peterg44: If you're running Mojave on all your Macs (please check the OS version though, as it looks like what you entered was a typo), you can run 1Password 7. And you can get that along with all of the 1Password apps and updates as part of a 1Password Families membership. Do you have one already? It sounds lie maybe you do, but then you listed "iCloud" as your sync method so I want to make sure we're on the same page first.

  • Thanks. There was a typo - I have 10.14.6, definitely Mojave. And you are probably right - we don't sync using iCloud, as my wife and I have different iCloud accounts but 1Password syncs between her devices and mine. (I enter a new password on my Mac and it shows up on her devices) So I will try to download 1Password 7.

@peterg44: Thanks! Sounds good. I'd just confirm that you data is all in your account when signing into https://start.1password.com in your web browser, and that you do not have other data you need in a "Primary" ("On this Mac") local vault in the app.

If all your stuff is in your account, and you're signed into it in the app all you should need to do is drag the old app to the Trash, restart your Mac, and install the latest from our website:

Let me know how ti goes. :)
