New vault compatibility question

Hello.

When creating a new vault, if I select "Show Advanced Options", I'm asked to choose between two Compatibility modes: 10.5 or 10.4 and later. This is a bit confusing to me because of the words "... and later" being only present in the second option. I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.7.4, and I'm not too sure which of the two options will guarantee the vaul will open under Mountain Lion (if I choose to upgrade at a later time) or any Mac OS releases in the future, and also with any futher Knox releases.
Currently, only the 10.5 option allowes me to choose a 256-bit encryption, which I what I want for all my vaults. So is this the option to go with for futher Compatibility?

One more thing. Under "Advance Options", I get to choose the size of the vault in the "Grows up to" option. There I can select from a variety of different sizes, and there's also the default option "hard disk size", which I think will make the vault grow as you dump files in it. However, underneath the size options, it says "Use the possible smalles size." What does that mean? Will the vault be less secure or less reliable if it's size is big?

Thank you in advance for any clarifications.

Both formats are supported in all recent versions of OS X. It might be better to simply have a checkbox that says "10.4 compatible" for the older format if backwards compatibility with Tiger is desired for a vault one is creating. The "10.5" vaults will work in 10.5 and later including Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion.

The size limit is simply that: a limit. With no limit the vault can grow as big as you need it to grow on the drive. The only concern is disk space as neither performance nor security are affected by this option.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with. :)

    Cheers!
