Does a family membership enable multiple vaults for users

I've been a user for years, and frankly HATE the subscription model, but it seems this is the new way forward for businesses to soak customers while appearing 'affordable'.

Nonetheless, I've used two separate vaults in iCloud and Dropbox for eons. Will I be able to do that with a family membership? With the AppStore download, I don't appear to have the ability to to add additional vaults beyond 'default'.

  • Hello @spammity,

Thanks for writing in to us, I'd be happy to help.

With an individual membership you will only have the one vault. If you are looking to separate your items into groups you can use tags. Tags that you have assigned will show up in the app. On desktop, they will show up in the sidebar. On mobile, there is a tags section. Selecting a tag will show you all items assigned that tag.

You can find more information on organizing your items with Favourites and Tags here: https://support.1password.com/favorites-tags/

Please let us know if I completely missed the mark there, or if you have any questions.

So then what do I do with my separate vaults?

  • I was incorrect when I stated that you can only have one synced vault on an individual membership. You can create new vaults by following the instructions here: https://support.1password.com/create-share-vaults/#create-a-vault

You will need to log into your account at https://my.1password.com to follow those instructions.

Once you have created new vaults that will sync with your membership account, you can move the items over from the stand alone vaults and they will now start syncing between devices.

    Apologies for the confusion.
