how to synch 1password between my mac and my iPhone and iPad

I first bought 1Password in Feb 2013 for use on my Mac (outright single license). In 2017, whilst preparing to travel for several weeks and not wishing to take my Mac with me, I downloaded 1Password - Password Manager app to both my iPhone and iPad. However, at that time I was unable to figure out how to synch between my Mac and iPhone and/or my Mac and iPad. Trying today, it seems I need an "account" to initialise my iOS apps for synching, but I gather my old version of aPassword precludes having an account. Did I waste my time in downloading those iOS apps in 2017 or is there still a way for me to synch my three devices?

1Password Version: 6.8.8 (688001)
Extension Version: I don't know what this means...
OS Version: macOS Catalina 10.15.3
Sync Type: Don't know...

Hi @petezero! Welcome to the forum!

You have several options to sync your 1Password data. Using a 1Password account is the best one, but you can also configure sync yourself with a third-party service if you prefer. You can see all the available options here.
