Today, out of the blue 1Password asked for Access to Downloads Folder to Scan to my Emergency Kit to make login faster.

Is this genuine? Why today, there have not been any updates?

I understand folder permissions to save or import but this is a new one on me.

Any help appreciated.

    Hi @iwaddo!

Have you clicked on the Scan Setup Code button in the 1Password Preferences today, in order to add a 1Password account to the app?

@ag_ana hi, no I’ve not clicked anything today.

  • Hi @iwaddo

1Password 7 does have the ability to look in your Downloads folder for Emergency Kits, which make adding any 1Password accounts you have easier. In order to do this on macOS 10.15 or greater we do have to request that permission. The prompt sounds normal. I'm not sure what might've triggered it to come up today, specifically, but we do indeed ask for that access.

    I hope that helps!

It helps me stop worrying about nasties on my iMac, thank you.

I'm aware of 10.15 permissions, lots of things ask and lots of things get denied :-)

    Thank you for your help.

  • You're very welcome. :)
