What are UUID & JSON as they relate to 1Password? What is gained or lost by checking/not checking each under Advanced preferences? Version 4.1.2, OSX 10.9.2.

    Hi @allfam,

The Copy UUID and Copy JSON commands that the Advanced Preferences can enable are primarily intended for troubleshooting and debugging purposes. You might gain more information about 1Password internals by using them and lose nothing by not. :)

Each item in 1Password is associated with a unique ID, the UUID. JSON is a simple data format that 1Password uses internally to store all its data. JSON is nice because it's very simple and flexible, with very little overhead.

There's information about UUID and JSON usage in these 1Password keychain documents:

Thanks. Nice clear answer for a non-techie. The attachments were a bit more challenging. :)

    You're welcome, @allfam.

I'm not so sure you're a non-techie, finding and questioning those Advanced Preferences. :)
