Why can't my iPhone's 1P tell my Mac's 1P I'm really me?

I'm sitting in front of my Mac with my iPhone 6 in my lap, with 1P open on the phone. My Mac doesn't know that, so it's asking me for the Master Password, which is by design long and complicated to type.

These two devices are already syncing with each other using iCloud (or rather they once again will be once Yosemite arrives). I can think of lots of ways the phone could tell the Mac I'm already authenticated so I don't have to re-enter the Master password, perhaps using the cameras to check the proximity. The advent of touch id for the iPhone 1P would make this especially useful, essentially enabling touch id on the Mac.

How about it?

    Hi @Tangible,

Thanks so much for the suggestion! You're certainly not the first person to suggest such a feature, and I'd be happy to pass your thoughts along to our developers. Apple is certainly doing some great things with iPhone/iPad and Mac integration in iOS 8 and Yosemite ... I for one am excited to see where it leads!
