I am having a similar issue, Unfortunately there will be no way to send a log since I can't even access the app. the login isn't even appearing for me. The picture of the vault shows up and raises to the top of screen but no password field or Touch ID prompt appears.

@jwvincent2 - You seem to be talking about the iOS version, since you refer to Touch ID. Is that correct? If so, we should move your report to the iOS section of the forum.

@MikeT and the AgileBits team are working on problems like this. I'm going to suggest waiting to hear back from a member of the AgileBits team before doing anything.

    Hi everyone ( @choralsinger, @eefreeman, and @jackjames ),

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having trouble with 1Password lately! Mike's on his weekend today, so I promise he's not ignoring you. Just relaxing a bit.

To get 1Password back up and running:

    • Remove the 1Password application by dragging it to the trash.
Do not use an app cleaner as they can also remove your data (passwords) and we do not want that.

    • Reboot your computer

    • Download a new copy from our downloads page

I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any questions!

    Hi @dgibbs0627 and @neywen ,

I'm sorry that you're having trouble here. I've merged your post with an existing discussion on this issue. Please refer to my comment above for instructions.

  • Hi guys,

I've replies to the messages, it is identical to Megan's instruction but avoids the part about emailing since the zip file is too large. You'll need to upload it to the cloud storage, something like putting it in a Dropbox folder and sharing it with us.

    Thanks!

The steps in post #12 worked for me (I was having the same problem with iPassword 5 crashing on startup and not working with browsers). It was an easy fix and no data lost (this time), but this seems to be a systemic problem with 1Password5. We all count on you a lot, let's be a little more careful, next time, okay? :)

    Hi @nut4wine,

Thanks for confirming those steps worked for you! Our developers are definitely looking into this issue so they can hopefully prevent it from happening again with future updates. My understanding is that it's a tricky one to track down and not easily reproducible on our end, which is why we're asking some users to send us the files described in post #12. Hopefully they'll squash this one soon!

If you need anything else, please let us know - we're here for you! :)

    Hi @bigshoe9,

I moved your message to this discussion about the same issue. I'm sorry you've having this problem! Please take a look at post #12 for steps to fix this (as well as steps to send us some information that will help our developers, if you'd like to do that).

If you have any questions about that, please let us know!

  • Hi guys,

I sent the PMs who are seeing this issue here.

@nut4wine, I know it seems like it is a systemic 1Password issue but it is not an issue with 1Password itself. If it was, the reinstall itself wouldn't fix it. The problem we're seeing is that a small group of users have 1Password installed with 20MB worth of app files missing. In other words, instead of getting a 56.8MB file installed in the Applications folder, the affected users have 36.8MB instead. We're trying to pinpoint who's truncating the file, is it because of a bad extraction process or a permission issue where OS X won't move files in. That's why we're investigating to find out.

On Monday I was prompted to upgrade from 5.0.2 to 5.1. I downloaded the file and tried to install it. It would crash immediately upon opening thus never installing.

I have downloaded it twice, but every time it goes to install it crashes. The plug in on my browser doesn't work either because it says I dont have 1password. It is also not available in my previous purchases on the App Store. The file I downloaded was created Jan 26. Ive seen a few other people on here with this problem, but no response.

I can't find any route to get an uncorrupted file because I cant find it in previous purchases, cannot open the version on my computer and check for updates and the version I am downloading from the website keeps crashing.

I could really use help because I am stuck in a loop.

    Thanks!
    Katrina

The developers are trying to figure out why this is happening. I'm pinging @MikeT, who seems to be the lead. In the meantime, this post describes what you can do to help, if you are willing, and what to do to correct the problem.

The instructions say to zip the application and email it to AgileBits, but I've since read that the file will be too big to email, so instead, put the zipped file on a cloud service, such as Dropbox, and email a link to it.

I see that my latest thread is the same as this one. I have attempted to download a new copy - but it appears that it doesn't work with the January 31, 2015 update of the OSX software. Please test and let us know how to recover from this issue.
