Safari Browser Extension Crashing Browser

Using Safari 8.0.3. Found that after leaving my system unattended I would come back and the browser would be closed.

After some troubleshooting, clearing cache, etc.; I saw a suggestion to disable extensions. 1Pass is the only one I have installed.

Removed it and the problem has gone away. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Yikes, klucas27! I haven't had Safari crash often at all in Yosemite...even though it hangs if I let too many tabs left open too long soak up all my memory!

I would say uninstall and the reinstall the extension as a first step, as it may have become damaged. If the problem persists, you may need to fire off some diagnostic information to the support crew to help get to the bottom of this.

Just to verify, is 1Password fully up-to-date? After reinstalling the extension it will certainly be. Let me know what you find. :)

  • Hi @klucas27,

I would be curious to know what version of 1Password for Mac and the browser extension you are running are.

I'd also be curious to know if it continued after this sequence of steps:

    1. Uninstall the browser extension completely.
    2. Reboot the Mac
    3. Re-install the browser extension from

    Do keep us informed.

  • Will try that and let you know.

  • Fingers crossed obviously but we'll keep working with you if Safari still crashes after that.

  • Reinstalled and the browser crashed on idle.

  • Hi @klucas27,

I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac.

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+ [email protected]

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Once you've sent the Report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!
