Rendering Bug in 1Password Mini

Hi there, I'm not sure this is where a bug should be submitted, but I couldn't find any other place.

I am having issues with the "Secure Notes" panel failing to remove itself from the display if I double-click within pane in order to select the text contained within the note. It appears that it's the double-click that does it, as text can be selected by dragging the cursor without a problem.

1Password Mini appears to work fine behind the frozen panel, although it obscures a fair potion of the screen. The frozen panel can not be interacted with.

The frozen panel can only be removed by quitting 1Password Mini.

While testing my indications I was able to create a situation where quitting 1Password didn't clear the panel from the display. This appeared to be when I opened additional Secure Notes and double clicked on the panels. If those panels became frozen as well, the are hidden behind the initial frozen panel. Look like this is going to take a system restart to clear unless someone can indicate which process I would need to "killall" in order to force a redraw. I would test this further, but I'm suppose to be working right now and restarts are a huge pain.

This issue has persisted over several version but still exists in 5.3.2, which I just installed and motivated me to actually submit the issue.

1Password Version: 5.3.2

When I restarted I had an issue window pop up for 1Password. I submitted it with a note about this thread and I'm mentioning it here just to connect the two. I don't know if it's related, but figure it can't hurt. It was submitted under my screen name and with the email address I used to register here.

    Hi @Spazsquatch,

Thanks for taking the time to report the problem you're running into! I haven't been able to reproduce the problem you described, so I'm hoping to get some more details that might help us. Here's what I tried:

    • Click on the 1Password mini icon in the menu bar (I also clicked the 1Password extension icon in the browser toolbar).
    • Go to a Secure Note and allow the item details to appear.
    • Double-click somewhere in the main notes field of the Secure Note.
    • Click anywhere outside of the 1Password mini window.

When I do that, the mini window immediately disappears. Are those the exact steps you're following, or did I miss a step somewhere?

    Thanks!

That was exactly the process that I was using, but it seems to have gone away. I'll have to wait and see it it reappears, but it's the first time in months I can't get the issue to reappear.

I had resolved that I was going to put together a video of the issue in order to demonstrate the issue, since it wasn't able to be reproduced on a different machine. In doing so, I figured I should probably add a new note since the other notes contain information that I would rather not have displayed in a video, thus the reason they are in 1Password. I don't know if adding a new note forced something that could have resulted in the redraw/buffer issue I was having, but for now I don't seem to be having the issue.

I'll let you know if things change.

That's definitely odd, but I'm glad it seems to be working correctly for you now! Of course, if you're able to reproduce it again, please do let us know and we'll look further into it. Thanks! :)

Just happened again, but I'm a little too buried with work to investigate it for now. Perhaps the Jing window, which sits on the "top layer" was preventing the 1Password window from getting stuck in the same position. I'll be in touch when I have more time.

Thanks @Spazsquatch, please do let us know if you figure out how to reliably reproduce that. You mentioned Jing possibly preventing the issue from happening, which makes me wonder if some other software might be conflicting with 1Password mini and causing Secure Notes to get stuck.
