Saw some interesting news - Google's Smart Lock will now store/auto-fill passwords in apps on android (L and up).

Is this the same technology 1Password Beta used for awhile before switching to the keyboard?

  • Hey @Snpbond. I was excited to read the news from Google I/O as well. :)

I have a very rudimentary understanding of Google's Smart Lock Passwords, so if anyone has better info on this, please feel free to chime in.

However, I'm pretty sure that this is not the same technology we previously tested for in-app filling. We had been making use of a Lollipop feature that would allow us to set text into any field we wanted. From what I understand of Smart Lock (and again, this is a very limited understanding), is that Google has an API that apps can incorporate to allow filling.

I hope this answers your question! Let us know if you have any further questions. :)
