Lost Vault?

Upgraded yesterday from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6+ and re-downloaded 1Password from the App Store. Now I have an empty vault in 1Password, and don't seem to be able to download my previous vault. It won't sync with iCloud, Dropbox today, and wouldn't sync with wi-fi at home last night. How can I retrieve my data? I have a windows PC (laptop) at home and am using iOS8.3 on the phone. Thanks, Janie

    Hi @Janie,

Could you please let me know where your vault is currently stored? Do you have access to it currently through 1Password for Windows on your laptop?

By default your data is only stored on the device it is created on.

    Thanks.

Hi, Ben-- Thank you for your answer. I actually created the original vault on my iPhone5, not on my PC. So, in reading your response, I have the heart-sinking feeling that my entire vault is gone, since my iPhone5 was "wiped" when I traded it in. If that is the case, could I I create a new [ :-( ] vault on my new phone and then somehow save it in iCloud? or in Dropbox? is it easy to do either of those? I didn't know that 1Password was available as a program for PCs. Thanks, Ben!

  • Hi @Janie,

Unfortunately that may be the case... Do you have a backup of your iPhone 5 in iTunes? Or in iCloud?

    could I I create a new [ :-( ] vault on my new phone

Yep! You can find a guide on that here:
    https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-ios/5/en/topic/new-user

and then somehow save it in iCloud? or in Dropbox?

You could do either, but since you are a PC user I'd suggest Dropbox:

I didn't know that 1Password was available as a program for PCs.

It is! You can learn more about that here:

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

Ben, Thank you for your help. I don't think it was ever in the Cloud, but for backup now, I think I might use Dropbox. Thanks again! Janie
