RSA-key file shown as GPX file

It looks like a GPX file:

The filetype says "data". When I use "Show in Finder", I can see the actual file and content:

@rdouma: I'll be honest, I have no idea what a GPX file is. My id_rsa key doesn't have an extension and is therefore not associated with any app. Does double-clicking yours open it in an app? It sounds like there may be some odd association on your system, since OS Handles the file types, not 1Password. Please let me know what you find! :)

Indeed, Quick Look also gives me that! So it seems to be Quick Look associated. I also found the culprit: it turns out that it was an app called GPX Reader. I've deinstalled it and now things are normal.

So nothing to see here, please move along

  • @rdouma You're right, it's QuickLook related. We let the system preview those files however it sees fit, so if you have an app that has taken over as the QuickLook handler for a certain type of file, that's what would get shown in our app.

Happy to see you got it sorted out. :)
