It seems that several login entries which work just fine in Windows totally fail in an Android.

The symptoms vary, sometimes the Android just does not submit the login even though the fields are filled out. Other times the userID and PW are just not filled out or filled out correctly. This is especially nasty as there is not easy way to just 'type' a 1PW generated password. Any suggestions on how to overcome such problems. Is there a way to determine which fields the android is looking for and which may be different than what the windows browser uses.

  • Hi @hjhermans. Are you having this problem when filling using the 1Password custom keyboard, or the built-in 1Browser? Also, can you provide a couple of the URLs for the items that aren't filling? Thanks!

    1. Am using the 1PW keyboard
    2. Enabled automatic filling.
    3. AAA.com account. url=https://midatlantic.aaa.com/Login/?zip=19087&devicecd=PC&referer=www.aaa.com / username and pw are defined. Works fine on Windows as long as i'm not already logged in. On Android, it displays the login but data are not filled in.
    4. Library account: url=https://catalog.ccls.org/patroninfo. Works fine on Windows. It has a strange set of parameters, created by 1PW. Only the 'code' and 1st 'pin' have a defined value (my userid & pw) but are both defined to be of type password? There is a 2nd 'pin' which has no value but is also of type password. In loggin in i only supply the first two (library card nr and pin). On the Android, it looks like the library nr is written into the 2nd pw field and nothing else happens. This is one of the stranger logins but there are several others. Some banks and dropbox itself does not work on the Android either. (Note that i do not have dropbox installed on the android so that might just be a reason.)
    5. If you want more examples, please let me know.
    6. I'm using chrome on both systems for a browser.
  • Thanks for the clarification! I was able to successfully fill the AAA Login using the URL that you sent. However, to be clear, 1Password does not auto-submit when filling. You'll still need to tap the Login button after your data is filled.

The second website you posted did give me trouble, and I do suspect it's due to the funky layout of the login (two boxes for login credentials). 1Password didn't detect the URL, and furthermore, when I saved the Login using my Mac, it only shows a saved password field in the web form details on both Mac and Android. This is strange because filling works for both fields on Mac. I'll go ahead and forward this to our developers to see if there's a way they can fix filling for this site.

Let me know if you have any trouble with any other sites or any further questions! Thanks again!

Thanks for the analysis so far. Did not know that Android does not do auto filing. I'll await any news on that funky library login. I dislike the website but its all they have!
Now for the next problem. I use the Discover bank and credit card 1PW logins on my windows machine without problem. However, when i invoke same on the Android only the credit card login works. The bank url ( https://www.discover.com/online-banking/) gives a display which does not seem to work. Note that if i use the same url in the regular browser, i.e. without using the 1pw login, it works fine. However each time it insists on requesting a mail or phone security code.

There is a Discover app which seems to work just fine but it requires login in each time. Is there a way, other than copy and paste, to make using this app easier? (The same will probably be true for other apps down the line)

  • No problem @hjhermans. :) I just tested out the Discover link, and I was redirected to lhttps://mapi.discoverbank.com/m/ac/#/login when I clicked to open the Login dropdown box. I then deleted the URL you pasted above, and pasted in the redirect URL. After this, filling worked just fine for me.

Can you give that a try and let me know if that works for you too?

    Hi;
Hope i did what you suggested. First i changed the Discover bank link to https://mapi.discoverbank.com/m/ac/#/login and tried to use this entry to log into the bank on my windows machine. Did not work (I did not expect it to as the https://www.discover.com/online-banking/ link worked fine there.)
Next, i tried using the mapi link on my galaxy. It did not work either.
So using the original link on the galaxy i get the discover bank page and when i choose the login from the menu it opens the mapi page you also saw. However the display is empty and the 'key' no longer recognizes the link.

  • Thanks for trying that out. I tested this on a Galaxy S5 with Lollipop and using Chrome. Can you let me know what version of the Galaxy, and what version of Android you tested this on?

Also, on Windows, you have the option to add a second URL to a Login item. I recommend keeping the redirect link as the main URL for that item, and then adding the other URL (https://www.discover.com/online-banking/ ) also on Windows. This way, the redirect link will show up on Android and filling should still work fine on Windows. Thanks again!
