    You almost certainly left 1PW Mini still running when you quit 1PW. That would produce this effect. You can quit both together by using Control-command-Q instead of just Command-Q.

    Also you can control the lock settings in the preferences of 1PW.

    @frenchman1 and @danco,

    It is actually better to leave 1Password mini running so you can use 1Password in your browser. (1Password mini is required in order to use the browser extensions.)

    Just adjust your auto-lock preferences to meet your expectations. In your case, it sounds like you want 1Password to lock when the main window is closed. Enable that option on the Security preference pane:
