Auto login is a very useful function. I found 1P can't auto login to some websites(e.g. amazon.com). I copy the login web address to 1P login's website section, but it doesn't work. I'm wondering if I did something wrong.

    Hi @gz_ch,

Can you please elaborate on what you're trying to do? I don't quite understand what you mean by "auto login". Are you having trouble getting 1Password to fill your login credentials (i.e. username & password) on a website? Or does it fill your login credentials, but doesn't automatically submit that form to sign you in?

If you can describe exactly what you're trying to do, the exact steps you're taking to do it, what you expect to happen, and what happens instead, we should have a much better idea of how to help you with that. Thanks! :)

@Drew_AG Yes, you are totally right. I have some trouble to use 1P auto open website's login page and auto fill username and password. Actually 1P does open the right page but did nothing(no username and password filled). I think its website's form label problem. Maybe 1P doesn't use like REGEX to recognize which one is username and which is password.

I open amazon.com --> your account --> sign in, then I copy that page address to 1P, and also save my pass&username to 1P. Then I click that login's website label --> open and fill, the webpage opened by my default browser(chrome) and username & password didn't fill.

    Hi again, @gz_ch! :)

What happens if you go to the Amazon login page…

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/sign-in.html

…and then save a new Login item by following the steps in this support article?

    https://support.1password.com/save-login-manually/

When you save Logins in the browser, that allows 1Password to learn everything it needs to know about a page to successfully fill it. I just saved a new Login item for Amazon like that myself to test, and it is working well for me. Please let me know how it goes for you.

    Cheers!

@khad Thank you. Follow that steps is much easier, but some web use javascript login which can't be captured by 1Password(e.g. Scene.ca). And open and fill amazon.com works fine now.

    Hi @gz_ch,

There are certain ways a login form can be presented that we can't easily work with. Using Amazon as an example. They have a dedicated URL that will always open a dedicated page for logging in and this sort of page we can always work with. If a login form is instead hidden by default and only opens a 'window' after clicking on a link then our open and fill can't work with it. Our open and fill does require a dedicated page that is being directly opened by the provided URL. Sites that use these windows can still be filled but they do require the user to manually open the window first before using the keyboard shortcut ⌘\.

Does that tally with your observations?

@littlebobbytables Thank you for the advice. It works for the most circumstances. I still can't login Scene.ca which will expend a window after I click login. The other site I encountered the similar problem is 1and1.com email login. The 1and1 email login link is "webmail.1and1.com", after I open it to the new window the address changed to "https://webmailcluster.perfora.net/*(the rest address)".

    Hi @gz_ch,

Thanks for letting us know the URLs for those sites! I saved Login items after entering some random text in the login forms on those sites, and 1Password seems to be able to fill those forms correctly. I'll go into more detail below, but first I wanted to ask about something you mentioned:

I open amazon.com --> your account --> sign in, then I copy that page address to 1P, and also save my pass&username to 1P.

Do you mean that you create Login items by opening the 1Password app, going to File > New Item > Login, and entering the username, password, and URL in the fields there? If so, that might explain the problems you've been running into. It's better to create Login items through the 1Password extension, as described in our user guide here: Saving a Login

The 1Password extension should prompt you to save a new Login the first time you sign into a website, unless you've already saved a Login item for that site. But in that case, you can manually have the extension prompt you to save a new Login by following the steps here: How to manually save a Login

Now, getting back to the Logins I created for the sites you mentioned: I went to Scene.ca which took me to https://www.scene.ca/home.aspx. I clicked the "Sign-In" link, entered some text in the fields, and saved a Login item. When I went back and clicked the "Sign-In" link and chose the Login item from the 1Password extension, the sign-in window closed - however, when I clicked the "Sign-In" link again, the fields were already filled. If I had a real account for that site, I would be able to click the "Login" button at that point.

That should also work for you, but I found an easier way. It looks like that site has an alternate sign-in page here: https://www.scene.ca/login.aspx

From that page, you should be able to choose your Login item from the 1Password extension to have your credentials filled. Or better yet, follow these steps to save a new Login item from that sign-in page. Because the sign-in form is on that page and not in a pop-up window, it will work much better.

Next, I went to http://www.1and1.com/ and clicked the "Login" link, which took me to https://www.1and1.com/login?__lf=Static. I entered some text in the fields there, then saved a Login item. Again, 1Password was able to fill that form correctly when I tried it.

Finally, I went to webmail.1and1.com and was redirected to https://webmailcluster.perfora.net/webmaillogin-us/;jsessionid= (etc) like you described. Again, I entered some text in the fields and saved a Login item, and that worked fine for me as well.

So, I think if you go to the site that has the login form and then follow these steps to save a Login item, it should work correctly for you. Can you please try that and let us know how it goes? Thanks!

@Drew_AG I didn't check carefully about Scene.ca, the login and url has saved correctly. Just as you did, save the login and goto scene.ca click "login", then click 1password extension button --> choose "scene" login. And the login window hide(I thought the auto type failed, but no), click to expand login again, the password are filled :chuffed: .

Thanks!

For this part, I know I can save login with the redirect url, but I've already have 100 logins and I just want to batch add it to the website field.

    Hi @gz_ch,

I know I can save login with the redirect url, but I've already have 100 logins and I just want to batch add it to the website field.

Do you mean you have 100 Login items for that same site, and each is for a different account on that site? I'm afraid there's no option to add a new URL to all of those items at once, you would need to do so individually.

If you add that URL to one of those Login items, is 1Password able to fill that item's information correctly on the site? If so, that's fine and you don't need to save a new Login item for it. But if 1Password isn't able to correctly fill your username & password correctly on that site after adding its URL to the Login item, you'll need to save a new Login item for it by following these steps.
