Vault accidentally copied and changed to new location on local machine

Options

I accidentally moved my vault on my windows machine to a nested folder within dropbox. I need to get the vault back to its original dropbox location so i can sync with my other devices. How can I do this safely?

  • Hi @tohare85,

    Try this:

    1. Close 1Password if it is running via File Menu > Exit
    2. Open Windows File Explorer to go to your Dropbox folder and move the folder back to its original location. Wait for Dropbox to finish its sync
    3. Open 1Password, if it can't find the folder, it should detect the 1Password folder in your Dropbox folder and prompts if you want to use it, say yes. If not, direct it to open the folder in the right place via the File Menu > Open 1Password Vault.

If you do not see the File Menu but the welcome tour with three options, select the second one, I have used 1Password before and then point it to the right folder in Dropbox.

Let me know if that helps.

That did the trick. I wasn't sure if that would be ok to do or not. Worked fine. Thanks!

  • You're welcome! I'm glad it worked for you.
