Hello, and welcome to our 1Password for Mac Beta support forum!

Are you already using the beta version of 1Password for Mac and want to provide feedback, report a bug, or need some help? If so, you've come to the right place! You can take a look around to see if there's an existing discussion for what you wanted to tell us about, add a comment to it if you'd like, or start a new topic.

Or, are you currently using the latest stable version of 1Password for Mac but are feeling a bit daring and would like to test the latest & greatest unreleased features, improvements, and bug fixes before they make it into a stable release? If so, we'd love to have your help! It's easy to switch to the beta version by following the steps here:

Install the beta version of the 1Password app

If you're using the beta version of the main 1Password app, we also highly recommend using the beta version of the 1Password browser extension:

Install the beta version of the browser extension

Beta testers are immensely helpful for us because they help find edge cases we're unable to detect ourselves. We test all builds before releasing them, but remember that a beta version will include some bugs, which is why it's a beta and not a stable release. Things can and will break from time to time, but we're here for you if they do! :)

    Switching from beta to stable

If you tried the beta but decided stability is more important to you, no problem! It's easy to switch back to the latest stable version of 1Password for Mac:

    • In the main 1Password app, go to Preferences > Updates and uncheck the 'Include beta builds' option.
    • Press ⌃⌘Q (Control+Command+Q) to quit 1Password and 1Password mini.
    • In the Finder, go to the Applications folder and drag the 1Password app to the Trash. Please do not use any app cleaners, as they tend to get a bit overzealous. As long as you only remove the app file, your 1Password data will remain on your Mac.
    • Empty the Trash and reboot your Mac.
    • Go to our downloads page and get a brand new copy of 1Password; be sure to leave the 'Enable betas' option unchecked.
    • Move the new copy of 1Password to the Applications folder.

Note: If you originally purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store and would like to switch back to that instead of our AgileBits Store version, you can follow the steps here:

If you need help with any of this, please let us know! :)
