Can I remove my Primary vault?

Now that I'm all set up on 1Password for Families with a Personal and Shared vault, I don't really need my Primary vault anymore – which used to sync over Dropbox. I've moved all the items into my Personal vault instead.

Is there anyway to get rid of it? I don't think I'll ever use it.

  • Hi, @mgreiner, and welcome to our forum! :)

At this point, the only way to get rid of the Primary vault is to reset your 1Password data completely, as described here: https://support.1password.com/starting-over/mac.html.

Once you do that, you can set up 1Password fresh with your family "team" account and there will be no Primary vault.

Thanks @rob. That worked great for Mac but when I follow the reset steps on iOS and then sign in to Families, I still see an empty Primary vault.

Hi, @mcklowry, and welcome to our forum!

@mgreiner @mcklowry: It's not possible at this time to completely remove the Primary vault in 1Password for iOS. That's something we're working on, but it's proven to be a bit more difficult than we expected since we assume in lots of places that a Primary vault exists. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
