Hello and welcome to 1Password 6.3 beta 1! Today’s a very exciting day. Our #1 request over the past couple of months has been OPVault support, and we heard you loud and clear. Our developers have been working over-over-overtime to get this done for you.

What is OPVault, anyway?

If you’re using Dropbox or Local Storage Sync, 1Password has been syncing with a file called 1Password.agilekeychain, in the Agile Keychain format. OPVault is the successor to Agile Keychain. When you make the switch, 1Password will start using 1Password.opvault. (Currently Dropbox only.)

You can find more information in our knowledge base:

Anything I should know before switching?

I’m happy to say that it’s almost business as usual, right out of the gate! In fact, OPVault syncs a lot more quickly than Agile Keychain, so you’ll be able to hit the ground running. Things we’re working on for future betas include support for attachments, tags, and Local Storage Sync.

How to test OPVault

If you are currently syncing with 1Password on another platform, you can switch to using OPVault in only a few simple steps.

Switch to OPVault

  1. Make sure the 1Password data on your phone or tablet is synced and backed up.
  2. Make the switch in 1Password on your Mac or Windows PC:
    https://support.1password.com/switch-to-opvault/
  3. Wait until the Dropbox icon indicates that the sync is complete.

Set up 1Password on your Android phone or tablet

  1. Reset 1Password:

  2. Start 1Password and set up Dropbox sync:

  3. Select your new 1Password.opvault and wait for sync to finish.
