Pin code not working after update to 6.4

I have recently updated to v6.4 and my PIN code is no longer working after the 1hr set for the timeout. The message in Security setting seems to indicate that this is the way it now works - is this correct? If so, what's the use of setting a PIN code?

    I have a similar problem. On my iPhone and iPad I have auto lock set to 5 mins, and touch I.D enabled.
    After the 5 mins is up I have to put my master password in every time.

    Sorry, I have just discovered that in setting>advanced>security I had the " request master password" set to 5mins. So now there is no problem.
