Hamburger Menu highlighting issue?

On Android the highlighting for the icon and text is not sync'd.

When opening the app, the star (icon) and text for favorites is blue. When I select settings, or any other menu item, the star icon is blue, and not the respective icon for the text I selected, such as the gear for the settings. If I touch and hold, the icon and text are colored blue as expected.

Android 7.0 (NBD90X) Nexus 6P.
