How can I empty the trash?

After I my disk drive failed last week I have spent many hours recovering passwords. Everytime I create a new password I end up moving a Password entry to the trash (a separate question), which now has 129 items in it. Is there any way to purge the trash?

  • Hi @CloseAtHand,

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. Consider me a bit confused, though. If you're using 1Password 6 and you're adding new passwords, you're using a account, correct?
In that case, recovering your data is as easy as signing in to your account in 1Password 6.

Or did I misinterpret your situation?

In any case, you can empty the trash in 1Password 6 by right-clicking it and clicking the button that appears. That's only possible when you're using a account, though, because 1Password 6 can't edit local vaults, yet.

    I hope this helps.

  • My 1Password account was acquired after my disk drive failed :)

I was able to empty the trash by logging in to Thanks!

On behalf on Alex, you're welcome.

Just so you'd know, here's how to empty the trash in the 1Password 6 app:

Right-click on the Trash itself to select that option to empty it.
