Sharing Family Vault with another 1password user

I have a Family account, and my son already had his own personal paid for 1password account. Is it possible to share a vault with him? When I try and add him as a family member (or guest) it looks as though it is trying to setup a new account for him i.e. new account key and master password etc. Is there a way round this?

Hi @mrden - Thanks for reaching out to us! :)

You're right, inviting someone to a Family account creates a new user on your Family account when they join. This is similar to creating a new account indeed. It's a necessary step though, as in order to share items users need to be on the same Family / Team account.

There's an upside to this though: When your son joins the Family account, he can move over his data from his existing Individual account. He can then delete the existing account, as he won't need it anymore.
