Anyway to disable Sync for standalone?

Hi,

Is there a way to disable Dropbox and iCloud (or maybe all) sync for the standalone version of 1password (for Mac/Windows)?
The company I work for, are open to use 1password if Sync can be disabled globally (and not depend on good intentions).

Thanks,
AD.

    Hi @andydev,

Thanks for contacting us with your question! I might be misunderstanding what you mean, but Dropbox and/or iCloud are never enabled in 1Password unless you enable them yourself. For example, when you create a new local vault (i.e. a vault that isn't part of a 1Password.com account) in the 1Password app, it only exists locally on that device and won't sync anywhere unless you configure one of the sync options. So if you don't want to use Dropbox or iCloud to sync 1Password, simply don't enable the option to sync with Dropbox or iCloud.

Now, if you mean that you don't want to see those sync options in the first place, and if you'd like the employees at your company to use 1Password, you'll want to check out 1Password Teams. With a Teams account, your data automatically syncs through our own secure servers instead of depending on third party sync services like Dropbox or iCloud. In fact, if you set up the 1Password app by signing into a Teams account, the Sync settings aren't shown in the Preferences at all because they aren't needed. If you or someone at your company would like to know what makes Teams (and other 1Password.com accounts) secure, please check out our security design white paper.

Hopefully that answers your questions, but please let us know if you need anything else. We're always happy to help! :)

It's a mix of your second option. We want to have vaults that don't allow any sync option at all, only as a local file.
We cannot use the Teams option, since we won't store passwords outside of our network. Do you offer on-prem solutions?

Thanks for clarifying, @andydev! There's no option to completely disable all possible sync options - and if there was, that means there would also be an option to re-enable those options.

We don't have a self-hosting option for 1Password Teams, but thank you for letting us know that's something you're interested in! Currently, we're focused on making our hosted version of 1Password Teams (as well as 1Password Families and individual accounts) the very best it can be, but we know self-hosting is a necessity for some organizations, so perhaps it's something we'll look into at some point.

We're here for you if you have more questions! :)
