I don't understand how 1Password works

in 1Password 4 for Windows

I installed 1Password yesterday for a free trial. But I have 2 main problems.
1. When I click on a website registered in 1Password, the login and password fields don't fill automatically.
2. I am unable to install 1Password in my 2 browsers Firefox and Chrome. Why and how to do?

    @Ralfie63: Great questions! As it turns out, they're related:

    1. 1Password only fills login credentials when you tell it to, using either the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl \ on Windows) or by clicking the button in your browser to select it. In either case, it can use logins matching the current URL you're visiting. Be sure to check out our guide to get to know 1Password for Windows. However...
    2. you'll need to get the 1Password extension in your browser first for this to work. Just go to our site and click the button to install it, and let me know what's happening if you still run into trouble.
