TomekTomek

I have several files protected by KNOX. As it is on EOL (still working on 10.12.x) may I kindly ask what is manufactuer recommendation for migration to different solution?

Cheers,
Tomek

    Hello @Tomek,

I'm not sure I can say we have a "recommended solution". However, using Disk Utility to create encrypted disk images is a solid choice that will likely be supported by Apple for quite a while.

@Andrew_AG (who does most of the Knox troubleshooting these days) has also unofficially recommended BoxCryptor in the past. Boxcryptor has the advantage of working on most platforms and can be synced via various cloud services.

Migration should be relatively easy, for example, to migrate to an encrypted disk image:

    1. Create your new encrypted disk image.
    2. Mount your newly created disk image.
    3. Mount a Knox Vault.
    4. Copy or Move files directly from your Knox Vault to your newly created disk image.

I hope this helps, please let us know if you have any additional questions. :)

  • @Tomak @beyer,
I can also recommend Cryptomator https://cryptomator.org it is open source and works on most cloud platforms ;)

    Have a nice day,
