Been using 1password 4 for W for quite some time. Tested a lot of different password apps and decided that 1pass is the best one for me. Been using it for a while now and been very happy. I've been recommending/forcing my employees to use it. However, we recently started to give some of our employees the 1password 6. Now it's become an issue because half of us are on 1pass 4 and some of us are on 1pass 6. What makes it worse is that there is no way to share passwords on 1pass 6 (a huge misstep by Agilebits in my opinion). We're now waiting for 1pass 7 so that all of us can update to it and start sharing vaults again. Hope this is out soon because right now sharing is very cumbersome/unsecure.

@mattnet: Sorry for the confusion there. In fact, 1Password 6 is built explicitly for sharing securely using 1Password Teams (and Families) accounts:

    Create and share vaults

1Password 4 works with local vaults, which can be sync'd using Dropbox, but that means you also need to give someone the Master Password for an individual vault for them to access it. So, depending on the use case, it's not ideal. 1Password 7 will support both, but it may not be out "soon"...and a less cumbersome way to share vaults securely already exists. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I will check out 1pass6 in that case. However, I think the issue is that we use 1pass for both personal+work. So the vaults thing made perfect sense in this regard.

Are we able to use 1pass6 for Teams and seperate the logins we store for personal use from the shared logins? We wouldn't want any administrator to be able to access all the logins in any way, shape, or form.

@mattnet - yep, you certainly are! Each 1Password account is a separate entity with its own Master Password and Secret Key, and a separate sign-in URL. You can belong to as many 1Password Teams or 1Password Families accounts as you wish or are invited to. Each account can be added to 1Password for Windows or 1Password for Mac, and the data can be viewed separately or all combined in the All Vaults view. You're able to view the data all at once because you have the proper Master Password and Secret Key for each account. But despite it looking like it's all jumbled together, it's not. Data from a 1Password individual account is not visible to the Administrator or Owner of a separate 1Password Teams account, just because you can view both combined.

Looking forward to 1Password 7. However, my partner's iPhone 5 is stuck on iOS 10.2 and, as I understand it, will not be able to update to 1Password 7.

We use DropBox to sync our shared vault. Will this still work between 1Password 6 & 7? Or might the vault format be incompatible?

Would appreciate clarification if you can.

    thanks

Whoops, I can answer that myself I think. On our iPhones, I am already on v7 and she is still on v6 and they sync OK.

  • @antipole,

There haven't been any changes made to Dropbox sync other than to move to the Dropbox version 2 API in 1Password for iOS 6.7.

Antipole, Why is the device stuck on iOS 10.2 when 10.3.3. is the last version for the old 32bit CPU based iPhones?

The last version to support iOS 10 is 1Password 6.9.1.

Indeed, it's definitely worth upgrading to at least iOS 10.3.3 and 1Password 6.9.1. Both are free updates. :)

Hi everyone! I have an older device (iPhone 5) running on the latest version of iOS, that being 10.3.3. I use it as a secondary smartphone. It doesn't support iOS 11. Which version will I be able to install on it? On my iPhone 6s, my (daily driver) I am running iOS 11.2 and 1Password 7 but on my second iPhone it is impossible to run either of those. The question is, if the App Store will allow me to download the last compatible version for my device? I also noticed a tiny mistake under https://my.1password.com/apps it says 1Password for iOS requires iOS 9 or newer but on the  App Store https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1password/id568903335?mt=8 and 1Password downloads https://1password.com/downloads/ it specifically requires iOS 11. Is it possible that the info under https://my.1password.com/apps is outdated?

    @Catalin1P: 1Password 6 is compatible with iOS 9 and 10. :)

Yep! Installing from your App Store purchase history will give you the newest version compatible with that device: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201272#apps

I agree that it's a bit confusing, but all of that is correct and I'm not sure we can or should change it. The App Store listing is correct: 1Password 7 requires iOS 11. The Get the Apps page in your 1Password.com account is also correct though, as iOS 9 devices can use 1Password 6, which supports 1Password.com accounts. Hope that clears things up. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
