Hello,

Since this morning Bitdefender thinks that 1password is a malware.

So of course it gets deleted. I don't want to put exception yet.

It was just to inform you, maybe you can see with them.

I can't install v7 at all but I can install 6.8.496 and then it is deleted.

Best Regards

  • Hey folks,

Thanks for reporting this. Please report this as a false positive to BitDefender here: https://www.bitdefender.com/submit/

They'll need your screenshots and the name of the detection.

I've sent them the URL but they'll want to hear from you.

    Hi,

I posted but had to upload the installer because I can't have the .exe because it was deleted.

    Best Regards.

    Hi @roranippon,

That seems a bit overaggressive, the file should still be recoverable in the AV tool in situations like this. If there is no way to restore it, that's a really bad idea, you could lose data that way.

I'll try to install Bitdefender on Monday and test it, see if I can get screenshots/data for them.

    Hi,

Maybe it is solved. I updated the virus definition and now I could install v7.

    Best Regards.

  • Hi @roranippon,

That's awesome to hear! Hopefully, @urizel can report the same here.

Got the same problem Bitdefender total security 2018 Windows 10

  • Hi @johs,

Did you update the virus definition within BitDefender? It may be already fixed and if not, please report it as a false positive with BitDefender.

Yes I did update the virus definition. And I have reported it as a false positive now.

  • Thanks for doing that!

    Hi,

It was short because I upgraded to 7.0.514 and it disapeared again.
    Files are in quarantaine.

So problem not solved yet on Bitdefender side.

    Best Regards

  • Hi @roranippon,

Yea, unfortunately, for now, you'll have to put exceptions and wait for BitDefender to fix this on their side. There's nothing we can do here except to report false positives and wait for updates on their side.

@dahanbn if you're on Windows 10 and at least the Creators Update, try Windows Defender. It does the job.

  • Our team also only uses Windows Defender here, it works well and unlike other AVs, it does not hijack your system like the CA, browser extensions and others. Some AVs just does more harm than helping.

A lot of people also use both Windows Defender and MalwareBytes' free tool that is not real-time scanner but works well as a weekly scanner.

I ended up sending over one of the files for analysis. FWIW I received this email back from BitDefender this morning:

The analysis of the file / website has been completed:

The detection has been fixed. All you have to do is to make sure that Bitdefender updates daily, and in order to do this please right click on the Bitdefender icon from the system tray and choose Update now.

I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but hoping it's a good sign!

  • Awesome, we're crossing fingers here as well.
