Don't change sidebar category from Unsecured Websites to Logins after saving an edited item

When editing an item in the Unsecured Websites section to add an HTTP tag to it, after saving, the sidebar selection changes to Logins, but keeps that item selected. It would be much more helpful to stay in the Unsecured Websites section so that I can continue updating these sites.

@danielcompton - thanks for the suggestion. The reason that occurs is that the currently-selected item was an "Unsecured Website," but -- as soon as you add that HTTP tag -- it no longer is, so instead of arbitrarily switching you back to a category to which the currently-selected item no longer belongs, it shows you the root category (Logins) to which it does belong. Were we to switch the default behavior to staying in the category you were in, instead of following the item you had selected, we'd have an equal number (actually, probably far greater) number of people telling us they didn't like that behavior either. Not that this is about our comfort, but we have to make some assumptions about what the user is intending, and currently-selected-item wins out over starting category.

I would suggest most people that are in the "Unsecured Website" section are there because they want to fixup all of their insecure logins. If I click the "Make https" link when selecting an item, that item disappears and the next one below it is selected, I'm not taken to the "Logins" section, that would break the workflow. However if I edit the item and save it (say by changing the URL to https), I am taken to the "Logins" section. For symmetry, I'd suggest that both types of changes (automatic updating, or editing) get the same treatment.

@danielcompton - thanks again for the suggestion; I'll pass it along to our developers. :)

This is still an issue, and I don't see the Make https link when selecting an item, I see a purple header that just tells me update the website to support https. I was trying to fix 129 'unsecured websites' and it's hard to make a dent.

  • Hi Syd,

I'm not quite sure why you're seeing a purple header for HTTPS Watchtower alerts. 1Password for Mac uses a red banner for that alert. Purple banners are reserved for Missing 2FA Watchtower alerts. As for why you aren't seeing the "Make HTTPS" link in the Watchtower banner, as long as the website field of that item is in the form of something like http://amazon.com then you should see it in the banner.
