1Password in menu bar sometimes not responsive

I recently upgraded to 1Password 7 - specifically 7.0.7 from the Agilebits store. Bought a new standalone license. I'm on macOS Hi Sierra 10.13.6.
I keep 1Password mini running in the menubar. My longstanding habit when I need it is to click in the menubar, but I'm finding that quite often, if I haven't used 1Password in a while, that that does nothing (visible). Click .. Click ... Right Click ... nothing.

So I open launchpad, click on the 1Password app ... then just close the 1Password window without doing anything else.
Now clicking on the 1Password mini icon in the menubar works consistently as expected to bring up the master password window.

Has something gone into a deeper sleep than desired? One of the main purposes of using up space in the menubar is quick access. It would be nice to have that back.

Edit: I'm seeing "Not Provided" for 1PW version, Extension Version, OS Version, Sync Type. I must have missed that, don't see where to add it now. I provided the first two in the text. I don't think the Extension version matters here, but it's Firefox 4.7.2.90. The only sync I do is WiFi with my iPhone. I don't use the cloud, yours or Apple's.

  • Hi @oldnparanoid ,

Do you find this happening when Firefox has no windows open (or they're all minimized) at the time? If so, that is a known issue and we plan to have a fix available soon.

    Regards,
    Kevin

Thanks for the reply. To answer you: Probably not. I almost always have Firefox running, although I sometimes minimize the window, which usually has at least four tabs open, If you have an open issue for this that you will fix soon, I will be content to wait for that. I hadn't seen this anywhere, so thought it necessary to say something, but it's obviously not urgent. Thanks.

BTW, it's probably not the same issue, but it's remotely plausible, so I'll ask: In about the same time frame as I've noticed this problem, or maybe since the update to Firefox 61.0.1, Firefox is crashing on me with some frequency. I have sent crash dumps to Mozilla. Since you have a known issue working with FF, any chance the two are related?

  • Hi @oldnparanoid ,

The two issues are likely different. The one I mentioned is due to a check failing because no window is open.

To look into this further, the next time it stops working, I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

    With your email please include:

    • A link to this thread: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/93746/1password-in-menu-bar-sometimes-not-responsive#latest
    • Your forum username: oldnparanoid

That way we can "connect the dots" when we see your diagnostics in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here so we can track down the diagnostics and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. :)

We'll have a look at that and hopefully, be able to see what's going on.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
