My second device wants old Ver. 4 Master Password not Ver. 7 Mac password

I updated from Ver. 4 to Ver. 7 on my Mac. I established a longer stronger Master Password. I liked what I experienced of 1Password 7 and decided to install it on my MacBook Pro, where I had also earlier used Ver. 4. But now the laptop fails to recognize the Ver. 7 password and seems to be wanting the old Ver. 4 password, which I did not keep any record of. I can't open 1 Password at all on the MacBook Pro, other than through my.1password.com. So I can't even alter preferences, if that's the problem.

if the data you've got in version 7 on your other Mac is more up to date than the MacBookPro's migrated version 4 data then you should be able to use the Help -> Troubleshooting -> Reset all 1Password Data menu item to put your MacBookPro into a fresh state that you can then point at your account.
