1Password for macOS doesnt support Yandex Browser – 2th browser in Russia and Kazakhstan, 3th in Belarus and 4th in Turkey with millions of users. Proof: https://radar.metrika.yandex/browsers?device-category=1

You said, that 1Password supports only major browsers, but you lie. You support Brave with zero marketshare. It is fact. So why you dont support Yandex with millions of users?

@Migman: We don't support Brave. They added the 1Password extension themselves. There are a lot of browsers out there with "millions of users", but in a world full of billions of people, that's a drop in the bucket. It isn't feasible for us to support every alternative or state-sponsored browser out there. Sorry.

P.S: Calling us names and using a Yandex-owned web property to taut Yandex market share is not going to help your case.

;) There are two different opinions in 1Password team: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/comment/447816/#Comment_447816
    Where is the truth?

@Migman: Nope. But way to intentionally "misunderstand" what I said and take things out of context. Sorry, if you wanna troll, you'll need to do it elsewhere.

    For clarity,

    Supported browsers are:
    Safari (macOS only)
    Edge (Windows only)
    Firefox
    Chrome
    Vivaldi
    Opera
    Brave

These are browsers that work with 1Password. Hence "supported", as you'll often see with a lot of software products — e.g. "supported operating system". Anyway, what I said was "We don't support Brave. They added the 1Password extension themselves." which is verifiably true: Brave doesn't allow installation of 3rd party extensions, so only the Brave team can add anything like that. They've added 1Password and a number of others.

And whats about Vivaldi and Opera?

Both browsers support Chrome extensions out of the box. We develop an extension for Chrome because it's the most popular browser in the world. Any other browsers — including Yandex — are welcome to support the open WebExtensions APIs that Chrome and Firefox use, and then our extension will work there too. That's why it works in Vivaldi and Opera.

Ok, you can look into another popular service with same result https://www.liveinternet.ru/stat/ru/browsers.html?slice=desktop&period=month&lang=en

Thanks! But Yandex doesn't seem to show up as more than 1% in any browser metrics except the ones you're selectively sharing. Even Opera is generally pegged at around 3%.

They added the 1Password extension themselves.

    What that means?

They've built it into their browser. Please see https://brave.com/features/

    @brenty You are trolling me))

@Migman: Nope. 1Password does not support Yandex currently, and it isn't something we have plans for at this time.

Yandex Browser based on Chromium. Yandex – is official co-author of Chromium, that boosts it (proof). Of course it supports extensions. I use 1Password X extension and pay for it. It works good.

Great! 1Password X is a great option since it runs directly within the browser. That's why we made it.

But your native app for mac doesnt work with your general 1Password extension, if it was installed in Yandex Browser due to "code sign". Your team speak about security. Ok. Yandex Browser have open Bug Bounty program. Yandex Browser – member of CVE MITRE security organisation. There are a few browsers all over the world that have such security control, like Chrome, Yandex and Firefox.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Chrome and Firefox have much higher marketshare and are developed independently. It's not feasible for us to spend time vetting and testing every browser that's requested so we can justify adding its code signature to our software, but it's something we'll continue to evaluate as the browser landscape evolves. In the mean time, you can use 1Password X if you're comfortable trusting the browser yourself.
