Infactive 2FA Not Updating

Options

Hi,

Noticed something odd on the Windows App for 1Password under the Inactive 2FA Section. Here is the problem that I am having.

  1. In the Windows App under Inactive 2FA - "Watchtower did not find any logins missing Two-Factor Authentication"
  2. In the Web version of the app - This show ALL my accounts that do not have 2FA turned on.

I have checked on multiple Windows devices and they all have the same result. - "Watchtower did not find any logins missing Two-Factor Authentication"

I have checked on the website twofactorauth.org and one of the websites in question TeamViewer supports 2FA but is not listed in 1Password under Inactive 2FA.

Any suggestions?

Regards
Ryan

  • Hi @wrwatk,

Thanks for reporting this. We think we know what the issue is and will be fixing it in the next update.

Can you check your items inside the Windows and confirm they do not have https:// protocol?

    Hi @MikeT

You are 100% correct in your assumption as to what the issue is, and if this helps this is what I found.

    1. In the web version websites showed as having http:// or https://
    2. In the Windows version the same websites do not have http:// or https://

    Hope that helps.

  • @wrwatk: The web app will add https even when you don't include it when you create the item. Reason being that, in order for clicking that link to work from the web app, it needs to have a protocol. As a rule, we leave your data as you entered it, even if we might technically thing you've done something wrong. We don't know what you intended and it's your data. This one case with the web app is an exception because of some technical limitations we couldn't otherwise overcome.

So, in short, it's likely you didn't include http or https when you created this item and Windows is giving you an accurate representation of the data you entered, but it's not giving you accurate info about 2FA because of the missing protocol. This is a known issue – just add http or https as appropriate to the URLs for these items in 1Password for Windows and it'll correct itself. The web app won't be fussed about it and will look the same as ever. And, of course, we'll get it fixed up proper in a future update. :chuffed:
