My 1Password has stopped working on my MacBook Pro. I don't remember when - maybe when I got the new computer a couple of months ago. (Because its working fine on my iPhone I have been using that.) I am running macOS Mojave version 10.14. When I enter my Password in 1Password, it all just disappears.

  • Hi @raetorrie

1Password 3 was retired in 2012 and last updated in 2014. If that is indeed the version you're trying to use it probably isn't going to work on macOS Mojave. Please try a modern version of 1Password:

    Download for Mac | 1Password

    I hope that helps!

    @raetorrie - a Secret Key is part of a 1password.com membership. You won't have one if you didn't create a 1password.com membership/account.

If you have your 1Password data on your iPhone, you'll want to sync via whatever method you were using to sync -- do you know what that was? Dropbox? iCloud? Something else?

Hmm - not sure what I have been syncing with. Is there an easy way to find out?

    Thanks, Rae

@raetorrie - sure! If you open 1Password for iOS and look at Settings > Sync, you should be able to see the sync method for all your vaults -- and they may be different for each vault, if you have more than one. The only exception to that is 1password.com account vaults, which sync via the 1password.com servers. To check whether you have an account, look in 1Password for iOS under Settings > 1Password accounts.

Hi Lars - I sync via Dropbox.

Look - I'm feeling increasingly stressed by the fact that I am locked out of my 1Password on my laptop. I have downloaded 1Password 7 and searched to find 1Password or opvault via Dropbox - and nothing is coming up. Currently I can still access 1Password on my phone - but I am concerned that if I lose access to that then I am stuck. I bought 1Password in good faith and now the firewall is causing me problems as I rely on the passwords in there and can't access them on my Mac.

I need someone to help me troubleshoot this. Can someone call and talk me through this? None of this is making sense to me.

Otherwise I see no choice but to copy out all my passwords and keep them manually.

    Thanks

    Hi again Lars

I am now signed up for 1Password 7 as a trial. I'd like to sync my current logins etc from 1Password on my phone to 1Password7 on my laptop. How do I do this?

    Cheers, Rae

  • @raetorrie,

When you signed up for a 1Password trial membership you would've been prompted to save an Emergency Kit. In that Emergency Kit you will find the Secret Key for your account.

You also would've created a Master Password. The Secret Key and Master Password are needed to set up the account on another device.

What you can do is add this new account to 1Password on your iPhone, and to 1Password7 on your laptop. Once the account has been added on both devices any new items created in vaults for that account on either device will sync automatically.

If you have items in older vaults for other accounts, you can move them to the vaults for this new account. Once they are moved they will also sync.

Instructions on how to add an account to the apps: https://support.1password.com/add-account/

Instructions on how to move items from one vault to another: https://support.1password.com/move-copy-items/

Please let us know if you have any questions or need help along the way.

Thanks you - I have finally managed to migrate my passwords. Now tho I am getting this error message:
    Unsecured website
This login uses http:// which is unsecure. If the site supports it, update the website to https:// for an encrypted connection. Make https

    Should i do this?

    Thanks, Rae

  • Yes. :)
