Site crashing

I have one website which just happens to be my bank site that crashes the first time I try to open it with 1Password version 5. If I immediately open it again with 1Password it opens just fine. Is there something that I might be doing wrong or is it just something that is unique to the way the bank has created their website? No a big deal but I thought I would ask.

    @jwmerrell

Is the browser crashing or 1Password ? Are you using go and fill or visiting the site and using the extension.

  • Hi @jwmerrell,

Can you also share which browser you're using and which bank site it is, if you don't mind sharing that with us. If you wish it to be private, you can send me a private message here if that's okay. If we can reproduce it on our side, we can investigate to see what's happening.

  • Hi @jwmerrell,

The crash dialog that shows up should have information within the crash log that tells us if it's Safari or 1Password that crashes. If it's safari somewhere in there there will be "com.apple.Safari", whereas if it's 1Password I'd expect "com.agilebits.onepassword" to show up. Feel free to take a screenshot of the crash dialog and post it here, there should be no sensitive information in such a screenshot. We'll be able to tell quickly which it is.

    Rick

  • Hi @jwmerrell,

Thanks for the private message. I tested the site and it isn't crashing for me in Safari.

As Rick mentioned, try to grab the crash information for us to review. When it crashes again, on the crash reporter itself, click on Show Details on the bottom left, either take a screenshot of that information or copy/paste it in your next reply here.

The other thing you can do is disable the 1Password extension in Safari, restart Safari, and see if it crashes on the first visit. To disable 1Password extension, open Safari, go to its Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions, select 1Password on the left sidebar, and then uncheck the Enable 1Password option on the right. Now, restart Safari, visit your site, and see if it crashes.

    Hi @jwmerrell,

Thanks for including the crash reported details! I'll ping @rickfillion and @MikeT so they can take a look. In the meantime, can you please let us know if you tried Mike's suggestion:

The other thing you can do is disable the 1Password extension in Safari, restart Safari, and see if it crashes on the first visit. To disable 1Password extension, open Safari, go to its Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions, select 1Password on the left sidebar, and then uncheck the Enable 1Password option on the right. Now, restart Safari, visit your site, and see if it crashes.

Please let us know what happened when you tried that, thanks!

  • Hi @jwmerrell,

Based on that crash report you sent me, it is Safari that's crashing, not the extension. As Drew mentioned, it would be useful to know if it is still crashing with 1Password disabled.

I tried it last night and this morning and with 1Password extension disabled in Safari Preferences I didn't get a crash. I will re-enable the preference and see what happens. This is the only website that reacts this way and it isn't a big issue for me. I am very please with 1Password and especially the response that I get through these forums. Hats off to all the team members.

    Hi @jwmerrell ,

Thanks for testing this for us, and for your kind words about 1Password and our team. You rock!

Please keep an eye on thing here - if 1Password is causing the trouble here, we want to make sure we get it fixed.
