hi, I cannot see my typing in new record 3.8.21 but it appears when i hit enter

Using 3.8.21 When I create a new login record the first field has a blue hazy section and other fields have a hazy section, when I type I can't see it but when I enter to complete the field the typing is visible. This happens on both my iMac and MacBook Air both running El X Capitan 10.11.1
