What product to order?

Options

Two retirees have two Windows laptops, one IPad mini, and one Android phone. One of the laptops is using Windows 10 and the other will probably upgrade to it soon. Browsing your Q&A support makes it look like I need to use Dropbox to synch the same passwords for the two laptops. Is that true? Our applications are the usual home stuff, email, web, banks, finance, etc.

  • Hi @Buff,

Yes, that is true for your ecosystem of devices. Your 1Password data is stored locally and we do not host it, which means you need a sync tool or service to sync your data between your various devices.

For now, you can experiment with 1Password and Dropbox to see if it will fit your needs without paying for everything right off the bat:

    1. 1Password on Windows is available to download as a 30-day trial here: http://agilebits.com/downloads
    2. Both iOS and Android apps can be downloaded for free at their respective App Store. For the Android app, it will switch to read-only mode after 30 days. iOS app doesn't have any time-based restrictions as it is not allowed in iOS App store but it does have less features instead and you can unlock the rest with the in-app purchase. You can see more information on what's included and not included in the free iOS version here: https://support.1password.com/pro-features-faq/

As for what to order once you decide that 1Password works for your needs:

    1. A single license of 1Password for Windows would let you use it on any number of PCs and you can share the same license with up to 5 family members of the same household
    2. Both iOS and Android apps can be unlocked with the in-app purchases. However, the purchases are registered to the Apple ID and Google Play accounts, so you may have to share the accounts between specific devices to get 1Password again without paying.

My thanks to Mike T for the response. Will proceed in that direction.
