I have created backup in ".1ptbackup" file. I am going to wipe out my iphone 6 to start a brand new and update to the latest IOS system, hence i need to reinstall 1password and the only version left in the App store is the new 1password.
How do i not lose the stored info once i upgrade to the new IOS system and app?
On the website it says to contact Agilebits directly but when i pressed "contact us for assistance"(in blue font) nothing popped up. Please let me know! i have appointment to wipe out my phone tmrw...:'(

  • Hi @Adelaide88,

Thanks for taking the time to write in.

You may want to delay that appointment until we can get this squared away for you. Unfortunately because the version of 1Password you're using is so old it is a more delicate process to migrate the data from it. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

If you have access to a Mac, it may be easiest to use Wi-Fi Sync. To do this use Wi-Fi Sync in 1Password 3 for Mac to get the data from 1Password 3 for iOS.

    1. Install 1Password 3 for Mac from the Legacy section at the bottom of the downloads page: https://agilebits.com/downloads
    2. Use Wi-Fi Sync to get their data into 1Password for Mac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rRw0CZgDp4
    3. Upgrade 1Password for Mac from version 3 to version 6 by downloading the latest version here: https://agilebits.com/downloads (this is the same link as above, but we'll use the latest version download this time instead of the legacy download)
    4. Install the latest version of 1Password for iOS: http://j.mp/1PasCS
    5. Sync the latest version of 1Password for Mac to the latest version of 1Password for iOS: https://support.1password.com/sync-options/

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Hi Ben,
Thanks for your prompt reply. However, I don't have a MAC, i have a Sony windows PC. Is there anyway for windows laptop?

  • @Adelaide88

If you don't have access to a Mac and won't be able to borrow one, there is another way. It is a bit more risky, as you don't have the data in two places after deleting the app from the device, but it's available as a last resort.

IMPORTANT: Before you proceed, make sure that you are using the same Apple ID you originally used to purchase 1Password 3 for iOS. Check in the App Store > Updates > Purchased and make sure you see 1Password 3 in the list of previously purchased apps in the App Store. This is critical. If you cannot later reinstall 1Password 3 for iOS you will be unable to complete the process and will have to start fresh with an empty database.

    1. Back up the data in 1Password for iOS to your PC: https://support.1password.com/legacy-ios-backup-restore/#back-up-your-data-in-1password-3-for-ios
    2. Delete 1Password for iOS from your device
    3. Redownload 1Password 3 for iOS from the App Store > Updates > Purchased
    4. Restore the data from the backup: https://support.1password.com/legacy-ios-backup-restore/#restore-data-from-that-backup

Once you have done that you should be able to upgrade to 1Password 6 via the normal route: https://support.1password.com/upgrade-ios/

    Thanks!
