Hi, I have a family account. If I want to have a guest access/share a few documents/websites for a few days how much I will be billed?

  • Hi @1password1! Great question. You get 5 guests for free. We want you to be able to share your home wifi password with people who visit, or documents with your accountant if you need to. :) If you need help sharing with your guest, learn more about how guests work. Hope that helps.

@Jacob is the number of free guests listed anywhere? I looked but couldn't see a limit.

Can the guest limit be exceeded and, if so, what happens if the guest limit is exceeded? I just tested and noted that I could send out 6 guest requests (though I didn't actually accept any, I just tested to see if there was any warning).

  • It isn't right now. We're looking for a good place to document it. Where did you go looking? That may be a good start. :)

If you add more guests than your account includes for free, they are the same price as an additional member on that account. So in 1Password Families, they would be $1 per month. Hope that helps.

I looked in various places. Firstly on the Families information page:

    https://1password.com/families/
(no mention of guests at all)

    Secondly on the pricing page:

    https://1password.com/sign-up/
(no mention of guests at all)

    Thirdly in the 1Password knowledgebase:

    https://support.1password.com/

    which led to:
    https://support.1password.com/sharing-with-guests/

    (no mention of guests limit).

I think there should be some sort of warning in the admin control panel for Families if the free limit of guests is going to be exceeded (and for full members if the standard limit of 5 is going to be exceeded). Whilst admins should really know the limit for both of these for their subscription, people are fallible and it can be easily missed. A warning message for exceeding these would mean likely save you hassle in the future from customers coming and complaining that they are being charged for exceeding the limit and they hadn't been aware of this. They can hardly complain (well justifiably anyway) if a warning comes up and they still go ahead with adding too many guests and full members. ;)

  • Thanks! That's very good to know. :) I'll let the team know you're looking for it in the future.

Why cannot the pricing (or limit of 5) be added in the same pricing page which has "1Paswword" and "1Password Families" side by side?
    https://1password.com/sign-up/ (pricing tab)

  • That is certainly one of the places we're considering adding it. :)
