Hi,

Great product. I noticed the file backups are zip file which contains SQLite database. How does the security of that file compare to the OPVault I was not able to find documentation on the topic.

Thank you,

Main objective is if can I upload both the SQLite backup and OPVault to different cloud providers and not be concerned with security of the file.

  • Hi @dREyhqwnp4,

Security wise, the SQLite backup (1p4_zip) and OPVault should be equivalent. If you really dug down and compared the layout of OPVault and the native SQLite format you'd see a ton of similarities. The main differences that I can think of really boil down to optimizations. For example we pull tags and URL information out of items and store them outside of the items themselves in our SQLite database. They're still encrypted with strong keys, but having them stored separately allows us to get access to them more quickly in a variety of scenarios.

    I hope this helps.
