Hi there

I'm looking into getting my team to use 1password to manage their personal and the company passwords. One my of team members is already using the individual plan? How to I go about to convert him from individual plan to the team plan while keep all his existing data?

Regards

Tony

Hi @tonynkh! I'll be happy to help you here! There's two ways your colleague could go here.

If he wanted to keep his individual account in addition to his membership of your Teams account, then he can simply sign-in to his Teams membership along-side his individual account inside the 1Password apps on his devices. All of the 1Password apps allow you to sign into multiple accounts at the same time. In fact, this is what I do myself; I have my own individual account that I use for storing my own personal items, and I'm a member of our own Teams account here as well (where I keep my work-related stuff). I'm signed into both accounts inside the 1Password app on my Mac, so I can access the data from either account whenever I wish. You can find our guide for adding additional accounts to the apps here: https://support.1password.com/add-device/

Alternatively, if your colleague no longer wants his own individual account, then after adding both accounts inside one of the 1Password apps (as above), he can then copy or move any data he has stored in his individual account over to his Private vault inside the Teams account. This works just the same way as moving items between any two vaults; it's just that the "source" vault is in his individual account, and the "destination" vault is in the Teams account. You can read our guide for moving items between vaults here: https://support.1password.com/move-share-items/

Once he's copied or moved everything he needs over to the Teams account, he can then delete his individual account (only once he's sure he has everything he needs!): https://support.1password.com/delete-account/

    I hope that helps! :+1:

    Hi @john_m

Thanks for your response. My colleague does want to keep his personal stuffs.

He actually used the company email to sign up for the individual plan. What happen if I invite him to join the team using the same email address?

    Regards

    Tony

No problem @tonynkh! There's no problem with inviting him to join a Teams account using the same email address; we do have a restriction of one individual account per email address, but individual + Teams on the same address is fine.

Alternatively, he could change the email address he uses with his individual account; if he has a personal email address, this might be the best solution. After he signs into the web interface for his individual account (https://my.1password.com), he can click on his name in the top-right corner and choose "My Profile". From there, to the right of the "Sign-In Details" heading, if he clicks the "Manage" button he'll see the option to change his account's email address.

Let me know if you have any more questions :chuffed:

@john_m, I have signed up a team trial a long time ago using [removed by AgileBits; this is a public forum]. Would you please grant me another trial for the Team Pro plan?
