It just keeps popping up the error message after I updated, pretty annoying. Also the directory doesn't exist after trying to give it permissions as specified on your post
https://support.1password.com/cs/native-messaging-chown/

Ignoring the steps and restarting everything still doesn't make it work. Why is this happening? This was working no problem before

  • @naradum,

We've found that there are some 3rd party installers that can interfere with our ability to write out the browser integration file. We have heard from most customers that follow the instructions that they are able to resolve this issue.

In order for 1Password to work with FireFox and Chrome, 1Password needs to be able to write out a json file into the Application Support for the those two browsers.

Thanks for the repply, so how could I go and solve this issue? Do you have any recommendations?

@naradum - If the Native Messaging Hosts folder(s) don't exist, you'll need to create them. Usually, if you Quit 1Password and the Mini by typing ^⌥⌘Q (or just holding down the Control and Option keys as you choose Quit from the 1Password menu), then restart 1Password, this will be sufficient to create the folder(s). Please try that - or even restart your Mac, then try again. Here are the locations to check:

    1. ~/Library/Application\ Support/Google/Chrome/NativeMessagingHosts
    2. ~/Library/Application\ Support/Mozilla/NativeMessagingHosts

If those folders exist, you should be good. If not, after trying this again, let us know and we'll take a closer look at what might be going on.
