Very strange actions at website resulting in 1P login being apparently modified by the site

I received an email to login to my power company website to view the bill. The link in the email is as follows: https://myaccount.centerpointenergy.com. When the link is clicked on, it opens the page after apparently being redirected to https://myaccount.centerpointenergy.com/Login/SignInSiteminder.aspx?SMQUERYDATA=-SM-PuS7PiOCLcCYSiEeBeIrqfCUZrQzUnXSuodL+2DgOskGV+Pk3MMcd8fFzYpO+sTkeRF5sd8b4KJdsUmAGVaPphgkU6lZI7tfTdBlxAOHo7Z6NHJnolHnCE1lGyC4CyK+eeJ68y07b5sMgE8wSvo0HQKZFHieT+uZMUSKCTKtq6M0lnKOQcTq9smhC3R27/Pb5CJfCN6xm/GGiQ0l/Lis3t+CF/lOOFngJZ1N/kvBYK4KsJy6q+wqZXN+FWkZhWPDZUI9dEISt47k5l4qVi78LzWtdXlky7uTI9qud8ed8Con166eQVYK84KhJE93G6OMzCdsvZh+ZQG59m9EtF2/3tP2KSqQHnw6, which then takes me to a login page.

However, the link https://myaccount.centerpointenergy.com in the 1P login causes "nothing to happen". Same thing with adding a trailing slash. By "nothing", I mean that the browser takes no action from clicking on the login. Also, if I paste the entire URL with the query string into the 1P login, it apparently reverts to the original URL of https://myaccount.centerpointenergy.com.

Just to be very clear and specific, here is exactly what happens:
1. I paste the long URL with full query string into the 1P login.
2. I save the 1P login.
3. I click on the newly saved 1P login on a new browser tab.
4. "Nothing happens" that is apparent. That is, no page is loaded--the blank browser tab stays blank.
5. Looking into the 1P login, the long URL that I saved there is not there anymore, but it has reverted to https://myaccount.centerpointenergy.com. This seems to imply that the interaction of just clicking on a 1P login is causing the 1P login to be modified!

I have tried the above numerous times and it is consistent. I used to be able to use the 1P login to access this account. But it can no longer be used for this website. The only way to login is apparently to click on the link in the email, or probably via some general pathway through the website to get to the login page.

Sufficiently odd that I have taken the time to compose this question.

@jasimon9: Ah, yes, that is weird. Maybe some kind of session/cookie/thing they're adding to the URL which expires over time. Can you tell me the browser version you're using? I'll play with it and see if I can find a workaround, though I am not super hopeful.

@jasimon9: Thanks! I was able to save and fill a login there using the 1Password desktop extension in Chrome. In many cases manually saving a new login for the site will allow 1Password to save additional information from the form to fill better. Just try these steps to save the login manually:

    1. Navigate to the website
    2. Enter your login credentials
    3. Click the 'keyhole' icon to bring up the extension
    4. Click the 'gear' icon for Settings
    5. Click Save New Login
    6. Give it a name and Save
    7. Close the webpage and select your new login from the extension to have 1Password Go & Fill
    8. Submit the form manually if you have autosubmit disabled

Now, I suspect that might work only temporarily because of the session thing. In that case, it should help to edit the login to change the URL to only https://myaccount.centerpointenergy.com. I did that here to test it, and that seems to work just fine, with 1Password filling after the redirect. Please let me know how it turns out. I look forward to hearing back from you. :)

I followed your instructions and it appears that has corrected the problem. I also took the second step to eliminate the query string from the URL as you suggested. That also appears to work, and I am hoping it stops future issues with an invalid query string code.

    Thank you!
